Last week my husband thanks to USFamily Guide took my 3 older boys to their first ever Globetrotters game. I was pretty bummed out that I wasn't able to go with my daughter, but she was busy with a play she is in, so the boys went on a boy adventure and they had a blast! Why We Love the Harlem Globetrotters
When I was a kid I remember my first exposure to the Globetrotters and it was amazing! I had never known a human being could do such amazing things with a ball (Aside from David Bowie in the movie Labyrinth) and I was inspired for a lifetime to try and spin the ball on my finger, dribble with my knees, pass faster than the eye can follow and have a good laugh while doing it all.
That inspiration died when after a handful of attempts the ball fell off my finger, again, and after a couple no look passes went to no one looking for a pass. However the respect I had for those Globetrotters grew quite a bit, they really are amazing.
Well thanks to the continued work of the Globetrotters I was able to pass that joy and excitement to 3 of my boys, as the jokes flew my boys laughed up a storm, as the ball was being passed at lightning speeds I saw the look of awe enter their eyes and I knew they where forming memories to last a lifetime.
When I asked my boys if they liked it and was it worth it all they could do was quote their favorite jokes and, with much hand gesturing, talk about the favorite moves the players did.
My personal favorite move was when Too Tall was thrown so high into the air he could have dunked the ball with his feet.
It was a Winner of an event for me and my boys and I am happy that there is one more good memory in there past.
The boys had a blast and I hope to go with them next time! If you want to see the Globetrotters in action there are still a lot more games throughout the country this year!!
